Advancing Women in Leadership Award: Honoring Organizations for Their Commitment to Women Leaders

BOSTON – October 15, 2015

The CIO Executive Council (CEC), a professional services company and business unit of International Data Group (IDG), announced today the launch of its Advancing Women in Leadership Award, in concert with its inaugural sponsor, Randstad US, The Award honors corporations and institutions that have effectively enhanced representation of women in leadership positions.

“Our goal is to engage enterprises to proactively recruit, develop and advance women in leadership-track careers, and accrue the many benefits of greater workforce and leadership diversity,” said Pam Stenson, president of the CIO Executive Council. Enterprises can earn an Advancing Women in Leadership award for successful initiatives such as:

  • Recruiting programs for disciplines in which they are typically under-represented—information technology, security, finance and other functions
  • Fast-track or other leadership development programs targeting women managers
  • Partnerships with academia, such as internship programs for women
  • Initiatives to interest girls or young women in science, technology, engineering and math studies and related careers

Our judges, experts and business leaders, will use criteria incorporating scope, results, sustainability and impact on the enterprise. The nomination deadline is Jan. 5, 2016. Visit www.council.cio.com/advancewil for the online nomination form

“Our ‘Refine Your Power’ career lab, taking place today at Suffolk University in Boston, is the perfect forum for the CEC and our sponsor Randstad to announce this award,” says Stenson. Prominent female leaders and rising stars are coming together to learn tactics for integrating work, life and play. Based on the book The Orange Line, this curriculum helps women leaders apply strategies that ultimately benefit themselves and the organizations they support.”
